Community development have been always in the blood of Nkambako people in general. There are lots of organizations which existed in our community from the early 90’s till today but I will only focus on NYA and what I call it’s ‘mother’, Vuyani Vantswa (VV). It all started around 2006/2007 when a group of youth from Nkambako whose at the time were at tertiary level noticed gap in development and information among youth of nkambako. They then decided to form an organization which was aimed to help matric students with universty application, bussarries and career guidence which was named Vuyani Vantswa (VV). Among the founders of VV there was vuyani mbhalati, Enough Matsimbi, Reginald Ngomana and others. VV didn’t last long due to lack of support and other issues (internal and external). In 2010 VV was re-established where we collaborated with the Mpumalanga branch under the leadership of Bongani Ngomane. The second attempt of VV didnt last as well but the spirit of VV still lives within many of us. In august 2011 because of passion about education, youth development and empowerment I decided to start the project again but now with broader vision not just focusing on education side rather focus on community development in general namely poverty eleviation, fighting crime, sports, and general community issues.Tha when the first NYA leaders where electected. Our achievements 1. We managed organise a trip from mpumalanga to johanesberg for a high school learners from Mpumalanga to open day at University of witwatersrand and University of Johanesburg under Vuyani Vantswa. 2.
